I've found an injured or orphaned wild animal - what should I do?

Call our Help & Advice Line on 01964 702270 for guidance specific to the animal and situation.

In general: keep the animal contained somewhere warm, dark and quiet (a secure, ventilated box lined with a towel works well), don't offer food or water unless we've advised you to, and handle the animal as little as possible to keep its stress levels down.

Is it always right to "rescue" a baby animal I've found alone?

Not always. Many baby animals - fawns, leverets, fledgling birds - are left alone by a parent for long periods as a normal part of how they're raised, and aren't in danger. If you're not sure, call our helpline before stepping in.

Do you take in domestic pets?

No, we care for wild animals only. If you've found a stray or injured domestic pet, see our Local Rescues page for organisations who can help.

Can I visit the hospital?

To keep stress to a minimum for the animals in our care, our site isn't open to the public. If you need to bring in an injured animal, call our helpline first and we'll advise you on the best way to do that.

What areas do you cover?

We help wildlife across East Yorkshire.
